The Famous Carnegie Hall

History of Carnegie

Named after Andrew Carnegie, this hall was initially built for the Ontario Society of New York and the New York Symphony Society. However, after much passing of hands, the Carnegie Hall is now a National Historic Landmark and owned by the City of New York, while being run by non-profit Carnegie Hall Corporation.

Some of many legendary performers have made appearances at this famous hall such as Judy Garland, Harry Belafonte, Ike & Tina Turner, Nina Simone, Shirley Bassey, James Gang and Stevie Ray Vaughan, and later on popular bands such as The Beatles and the Beach Boys.
